The Perks of Being a Wallflower
The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower follows one year in the life of troubled teen, Charlie, as he makes his way through freshmen year of high school. Following the death of his best friend, Charlie is at a loss for how to cope until he meets seniors Sam and her step-brother Patrick. This unlikely duo exposes Charlie to new and not always wonderful experiences that lead to some very interesting life choices.

This coming of age film is highly comforting and, yet, disturbing at times.  Filled with experience that anyone can see themselves in, The Perks of Being a Wallflower will have you laughing and crying at the same time.  It has a plot filled with moments that could break your heart or having you breaking a seam. This quirky comedy-drama will be a must see for the season.

Moonrise Kingdom – on DVD 10/16/12
Following the story of two twelve year old that fall in love and decide to run away, Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of how a town is rocked and turned upside down in the wake of the runaways and the storm brewing off the coast of this once peaceful New England town.  And that might not be such as bad thing to happen.  Sam and Suzy are the odd children of this small island town and running away may just be their key to happiness in world where unhappy normality rules.

Visually appealing, this movie connects people with its hilarious and intriguing story line.  The witty dialogue and visual gags will have you fall off your set with laughter.  While still maintaining some very sober moments, the film will catch you from the beginning till it releases you in the end. The overall purpose of the stories appears to be that finding your own happiness is far more important than trying to keep someone else’s.
