Earlier this week, Connecticut author,
Michaela MacColl visited the Booth & Dimock Memorial Library as part of the
Connecticut Authors Trail. Her current books are
Prisoners in the Palace the story of a servant girl working for a young Queen Victoria,
Nobody's Secret about young Emily Dickinson as a detective and
Promise the Night about Beryl Markham's amazing childhood in Africa before she came one of the first and best female aviators. All three books are available at the Library and well worth a read!
Ms. MacColl spoke about her experience finding an agent and publishing her first book--
Prisoners in the Palace as well as the importance of research when writing historical fiction. It certainly made me want to know more about all three main characters.
Nobody's Secret marked the first of a theme for the author. Her next book will be another detective story featuring the Bronte Sisters and more literary persons are to follow.
