Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick
When Alex goes into the woods to say goodbye to her parents and goodbye to the world, she comes back to a completely new one. A world where an EMP has destroyed all technology and has turned everyone her age into man eating crazies. But when she meets up with a little girl named Ellie and a young soldier named Tom, Alex finds herself with more of a family the she’d ever had before. Can she keep her new found family alive in a world that feels like a nightmare? Ilsa Bick’s Ashes is a suspenseful thriller that keeps you convinced things can't possibly get any worse. But it always proves you wrong.
